No one was seriously injured after a car collided with a train at 7:45 a.m. today on the Eastbound Arterial where the Fingerlakes Railroad crosses.
Roger G. Jackson, 67, drove the car into the lead car of the three-car train, which was traveling northeast across the intersection.
The Auburn Police Department said the Auburn resident disregarded a red light signaling traffic to stop and the train's warning horn and attempted to pass through the intersection as a train was approaching.
The police issued Jackson a ticket for passing through a red light.
Roger's wife, Vicky M. Matheson-Jackson, 52, was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She suffered bruising on her knees.
Their 1999 Pontiac received substantial damage and was towed from the scene, police said. Eastbound Route 5 traffic was detoured for about 35 to 40 minutes.
