Hi everyone. I've been busy and it's been hard to find time to write my article.
Sorry if you missed the 19th annual senior picnic. We had about 150 attendees arrive on a very rainy day. It was really nice to see people I don't see out and about, like Martha Gould. I was really pleased to see her and her family make the trip.
You know I have been involved with this picnic for 10 years now, and I look forward to it every year. I really enjoy seeing everyone each year. I don't know where they got that bingo caller and his little helper, but they do such a great job for so little money.
I would also like to thank the Conquest Fire Company for cooking the meat for us again. We can always count on them every year.
This year's keys to our town went to Ray and Emma Biss, Bertha Mettler and Edith Shaffer. Ray and Emma live down on Brunns Lane and have made Conquest their home since the early 1970s after Ray's retirement. They enjoy gardening and have been coming to our picnic for many years.
Bertha and Edith, who are sisters, live and raised they're families in Conquest. They both continue to cause all kinds of trouble in town. They think they can cause all of that trouble and then take off to Florida and leave their families and us behind to deal with the winter. No I am just kidding, because these two ladies are great people and are a joy to be around. They would do anything for anyone. They have fun, and that's why they were given the keys.
Please join me in congratulating these good people. I would also like to thank the Conquest Town Board for doing this for the seniors ... not very many communities do this kind of thing.
Lastly, thank you Tom Moon for your donations.
