City to honor D-days tonight
The 2007 New York-Penn League champion Auburn Doubledays will be honored on the steps of Memorial City Hall today. Auburn Mayor Timothy Lattimore will present a plaque to team's officials at 5:30 p.m. at city hall, 24 South St., Auburn.
The Doubledays captured the championship on Friday, defeating the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Auburn's last championship came in 1998 when the team was co-champions with Oneonta.
Tourism group names new leader
The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance has a new leader.
The FLTA board of directors announced Wednesday that Cynthia Kimble has been named the new president effective November 1.
Kimble, who was president of the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce, is succeeding Michael Rusinko, who recently resigned to pursue other career opportunities.
The FLTA is a tourism development organization founded in 1919 that is considered the tourism promotion agency for the 9,000-square-mile Finger Lakes region.
The FLTA, through an association of private-sector attractions, tourism-based businesses and county tourism offices, works to enhance and promote visitor business in the region. The organization, funded by its members and the state, is based in Penn Yan and covers 14 counties.
