Appointment of Peter Restey, 17 1/2 Wood St., as a temporary fireman in the Auburn Fire Department was announced today by City Manager George F. Train. His appointment is temporary as he lacks civil service standing.

AUBURN - State representatives of the Comprehensive Technology Center's parent organization expect to right the agency's financial condition by the end of October. NYSARC, the state agency of which CTC is a member, took over the agency in July after an audit by the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities revealed poor financial decisions between 1993 and 1996 threatened the existence of the agency. The audit closes the book on what has been a tumultuous chapter in the history of the agency devoted to helping Cayuga County's developmentally disabled population.

AUBURN - Currier Plastics celebrated its 20th anniversary Wednesday with a company picnic on a perfect late-summer day. Co-owner John Currier's forecast for 2002 is just as sunny. Currier believes sales will increase 15 to 20 percent in 2003, and the company will probably expand its work force 10 percent from its current staff of 120.
