Minnoe is 2-2 at Eastern tourney
Auburn's Claire Minnoe competed in the LI Eastern Designated Closed Tennis Championships this weekend and had her best finish in a closed tournament.
The tournament brings in the best 12-year-olds from the eastern region which consists of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Minnoe beat Monika Kozkowski in the main draw, 6-4, 7-5. She then lost to the No. 2 seed Vivian Cheng 1-6, 1-6.
In the back draw, Minnoe won another round against Madison Battaglia 7-5, 6-1.
Minnoe's fourth match was a loss to Arielle Shuren 6-7, 3-6.
She will next travel to New Jersey in November for a Level I Tournament.
Lakers looking to extend win streak
Rachel Hosie is already having a breakout year for the Skaneateles girls cross country team but head coach Jack Reed is already making changes to ensure the Lakers win streak continues.
Skaneateles has 87 straight league wins but finished fifth at this past weekend's Chittenango Invite.
The Lakers main road block should be Tully, who won the Chittenango Invite and inherited one of the best runners in the section from LaFayette.
At Weedsport, Mike Greer continues to shine. Greer finished 20th at Chittenango as the Warriors took 10th place.
Weedsport is expected to compete with Pulaski for the league title this season.
On the girls side, Alyssa O'Bryan has emerged as a solid contender, taking 23rd at Chittenango.
The Warriors were second in the league last year and took fourth at sectionals. Pulaski will be tough to hurdle but a third-place finish at sectionals isn't out of the question.
