Auburn played a strong second half but was outplayed by a faster and more experienced Utica team, losing 7-0 at Auburn High School Tuesday.

The Maroons created some scoring opportunities in the second half but couldn't capitalize.
This is the first boys varsity soccer team at Auburn in two years.
Last year, only 26 players showed up and the decision was made by the previous varsity coach to only have a junior varsity team.
The Auburn athletic department was unable to sign a new head coach so parents Gary Burke and Nicholas Neabel offered their services on an interim basis.
A new coach will be appointed in November.
The team is comprised of seven seniors, including captains Dylan Warter and Craig Hunter.
Leading scorers for the team are Hunter and Wilson Ren with two goals apiece.
Auburn travels to play Liverpool Thursday.
