Chamber hosting Business Expo
The Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce will host its seventh annual Business Expo. This combines a business trade show that allows for participants to network and make business relationships, organizers say. The Expo is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Holiday Inn, 75 North St. in Auburn. The event will feature live music, door prizes, and complimentary food and drink.
People may get in for free with a business card.

Auburn Vanguard first at competition
Auburn High School's field band, The Vanguard, won its competition this past weekend at Cicero-North Syracuse, while the Jordan-Elbridge High School field band placed fifth at its contest in New Hartford.
Competing Saturday in the Large School 3 division, Auburn scored 69.55 points to defeat Vestal High School, which had a score of 63.05, according to the New York State Field Band Conference Web site. Auburn heads to Baldwinsville this coming Saturday for its next competition. Performance time is scheduled for 7 p.m. It hosts its annual Harvest of Sound competition on Saturday, Sept. 29.
In the Small School 1 Division, Jordan-Elbridge scored 72.45 on Saturday. New Hartford captured first in that division, which had seven teams competing. Jordan-Elbridge heads to Oswego with a 7:45 p.m. performance time this coming Saturday.
Contract awarded for ACF project
The state Office of General Services recently awarded more than $7.4 million for contracts in eight counties, including a project in Cayuga County.
JB Daniel LLC, Romulus, will do electrical work at the Auburn Correctional Facility for $24,500. M & N Plumbing and Heating, North Syracuse, are the apparent low bidders for heating and ventilation, a $1.1 million contract at ACF.
Both firms are replacing a heating system in Building No. 4 at the correctional facility.
