Two Cents

The federal politicians keep harping that World War II only took four years to win. We didn't have judges, lawyers and politicians tell us when and where we could shoot or how we could question prisoners for info on location of troops and armament in World War II.
If we had today's Democrats around during World War II, we'd all be speaking German now.

Seeing as how the high school band can't be bothered showing up at the football games, let's put the middle school band up there. They sound great.

It must take a real low life to buy the foreclosed property of someone who couldn't pay their taxes. I don't know how such people sleep at night.

Sen. Joe Biden is the only presidential candidate with a realistic plan for the successful conclusion in Iraq. He is by far the best qualified to be president from both of our parties --- so vote for him.

Help me --- how am I going to tell my children that Santa Claus isn't at the North Pole, he's in China. Help me --- how am I going to tell them!

I get a warm fuzzy every time the weekly whiner sends in another tirade because he wants to know who his critic is. In my Mary Street neighborhood I'm looked upon as a Two Cent god.

I did not attend the TomatoFest because of the shuttle bus. It's a big inconvenience especially when you have little kids with you.

" Yes cm--"majority rules"--and 63% of Americans at last poll think this war is wrong and the troops should be pulled out! What say ye to THAT? I understand how you can't really be anti-war and preserve your marriage. Man, that must tweak your conscience, but we all make our choices...BTW, your Greenspan dissertation impresses me not--the economy still stinks, period. "

" So Karl, the only element used to gauge the economy is home foreclosures? People took out loans that they couldn't afford and lenders let them do it, and that is Bush's fault how? There are many, many other aspects to the economy but with you no fact is too big to ignore. 3,4,5 months of a high foreclosure rate doesn't negate years of growth. Yeah Karl, keep thinking yourself "courageous" for griping about the war...truth to power blah, blah, blah...Courageous guys like you march with pictures or references to Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, 9/11 conspiricy garbage, Bush/Hitler comparisons. But how often with pictures of 9/11? 3/11? 7/7?Beslan? Daniel Pearl? Theo van Gogh? Car bombings in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan? The murder of Christians and Buddhists in Indonesia? People like you don't. The real truth about what we are up against scares you to the point where its easier to live in a fantasy land of tin foil hat conspiricies. BTW, I was in the Navy so your chickenhawk "insult" doesn't really fly with me. "

" Greenspan also praised the rise of the subprime mortgage April 2005. The subprime mortgage industry collapsed in March 2007, with many of the largest lenders filing for bankruptcy protection in the face of spiraling foreclosure rates. For these reasons, Greenspan has been criticized for his role in the rise of the housing bubble and the subsequent problems in the mortgage industry,[27][28] as well as "engineering" the housing bubble itself: "It was the Federal Reserve-engineered decline in rates that inflated the housing bubble … the most troublesome aspect of the price runup is that many recent buyers are squeezing into houses that they can barely afford by taking advantage of the lower rates available from adjustable-rate mortgages. That leaves them fully exposed to rising rates." Furthermore, Greenspan had used his position as Fed Chairman in 1993, when he supported President Clinton's deficit reduction plan, which included tax hikes and budget cuts! wikipedia has alot of info. You're just skeered at your core, aren't ya? Ha HA! I don't hate news organizations. "Faux "News" is not a "news" organization--they are a propaganda outlet, period, like Joseph Goebbels' office of WWII. Nor is Iraq a "just cause" like WWII--if it is, why aren't YOU signed up to fight for what you so obviously ardently believe in Dan W--and you , DD,Chris, cm, etc? Don't like your odds of coming back huh? Better to stand on the sidelines and cheer and let the big boys carry the ball huh? Makes you all feel like you're doin' SOMEthing HUH? Ha HA. Yeah well, at least I have the courage to admit that I can see this whole war stinks, and is morally, legally and principally WRONG. BTW, home foreclosures at RECORD LEVELS in August--lecture us again about hat "strong economy" Mr Coulter and cm... "

" Here you go Karl, lets see you pick this apart with your liberal "logic". From Wizbang.com (he put it more eloquently than I could as he blogs for a living): Oil is, quite simply, the foundation of modern civilization. And the free flow of oil is the linchpin that holds it all together. Imagine spending one day without oil. Just one day. No driving. Virtually no transportation whatsoever. Most likely no heat. Greatly reduced electricity. And no plastics. Period. Get rid of most of your clothing, with its plastic fabrics. Your credit cards. Your computers. Your TV. Most -- if not all -- of your home electronics. Your appliances. In short, move right back about 150 years, because that's what it would take to get by without oil. Oil is the lifeblood of our existence. Now, where is the world getting most of its oil? That's right, the Middle East. And that is the true source of the Islamist power in the world. Saudi Arabia would have fallen to the Islamists a long time ago if they weren't sitting on top of zillions of dollars of cash, and could affort do keep paying the troublemakers to go somewhere else. Iran wouldn't have the resources to develop nuclear weapons, and their periodic threats to close the Straits of Hormuz would result in endless shrugs. If it wasn't for oil, the world would look at the insanity that grips most of the Middle East and scold, then shrug -- much like it does at the genocides in Africa. Because it simply wouldn't matter to us. That's what Greenspan meant, and only a complete idiot or an utterly partisan hack could interpret it otherwise. "

" to the person that wrote "The high school marching band cannot be bothered to show up at football games" hasn't a clue. It takes four busses to move those 130 kids, plus the large truck and trailer for the equipment. It's pure logistics. The district will not spring for that, nor should they. For a ten minute show, it would easily turn into a two hour effort. No one works for free. If you want to see them, go to a competition. The Harvest of Sound is in two weeks. They'll knock your socks off. Or, on Mon & Wed nites @ 8:30, go to AHS near the track. You can see the whole show, and see how much work those kids do. "

Blah, blah, blah! And when are you gonna recognize that the "war spending" has been nothing but one HUGE sorry BLANK CHECK for profiteering and FRAUD under thos administration and their cronies! "...protect our national security?!?!" PLEASE! How 'bout protecting our boys over there with proper body armor, vehicle armor, and the like? Did you forget about the monumental WASTE AND FRAUD that has characterized their spending-the-US-taxpayer into near bankruptcy?! And the "Tax cuts"? Bush cut the taxes to benefit the wealthy, and then took THE SURPLUS (WHICH CLINTON ENGINEERED!) and blew it all on this lousy war!--but NOT on the important things, like armor for the troops! Amazing it is, your selective culling of pro-Republican data! See my latest post to Mr Coulter there; talk to me about the effects of this war on the AVERAGE AMERICAN and I'll start taking you seriously! "

" Greenspan, in testimony before Congress in 2001, gave a major boost to Bush's tax-cut plan, irking Democrats. At the Fed, he repeatedly urged Congress to put back in place a new spending increases or tax cuts to be offset by spending reductions or TAX INCREASES. He argued then that a tax cut could help the economy deal with sagging growth. Surpluses quickly turned to deficits after the bursting of the stock market bubble and the 2001 recession cut into government revenues. Government spending increased to pay for the fight against terrorism and receipts declined because of TAX CUTS! THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION: "We're not going to apologize for increased spending to protect our national security." "

THEN HE CLARIFIES: Greenspan has since clarified these remarks in an interview. In the interview, Greenspan stated, "I was not saying that that's the administration's motive. I'm just saying that if somebody asked me, 'Are we fortunate in taking out Saddam?' I would say it was essential". "

DO your research! Your Faux-News-talking-points rant there made the soy milk in my refrigerator curdle! Mr Coulter, if I was around in WWII, I would have enlisted and gone to fight, because that was a JUST WAR. The Third Reich was an aggressive power, threatening the European mainland, and threatening the peace of the entire world, not simply a regional bully. Besides--did you guys miss the memo about Saddam and Iraq having ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with 9/11?!?!?!?! OH, that's right; I forgot--you get your "facts" from Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter!!! The following should sound pretty familar to those who read about the liberal cowards of today and the views they espouse (I got this from the web and it is truly fitting): General Eisenhower is a man constantly at war with the facts. He believes that Nazi Germany is a direct threat to the US. It was Japan that attacked us, not Germany. Eisenhower won't admit what everyone knows: America is in an unwinnable war on two fronts that are thousands of miles away. Even if America could win, we would have to keep thousands of troops in Europe and the far east for decades. "

(NOT the soldiers, mind you!) WWII was a conventional war, fought with conventional, identifiable armies in uniforms, and moving across vast battlefields in lines and troop formations, replete with tanks, units, markers on a map, etc. If you try to fight a "guerilla war" like a conventional war--surprise--you get "Viet Nam" or "Iraq"! Additionally, in WWII, we "won the hearts and minds" of the people because we were fighting for a Noble Cause--NOT to steal and control their oil resources! As Anglo-Saxon peoples, we identified with the European peoples, cities and infrastructure, and so were more at loathe to destroy their cities and livelihoods, and to aid in reconstruction. Therefore the population was more amenable to Allied troops and occupation. In Iraq or Viet Nam, we're doing neither! BTW, did you all hear that ALAN GREENSPAN HIMSELF finally ADMITTED that "it's an politically-inconvenient FACT that we're in Iraq to control the oil"! "
