Worker killed in bridge fall
NEW YORK - Falling concrete knocked a construction worker off a catwalk and sent him plunging about 15 stories off the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, authorities said Friday.
The worker was on a wooden catwalk that was suspended from the lower level of the span when a concrete barrier fell onto the wood and knocked him to the ground, killing him, said Fire Department spokesman Jim Long.
The name of the 48-year-old Manhattan resident was not immediately released.
