Renowned author to speak at Wells
Sue Monk Kidd, an award-winning writer best known for “The Secret Life of Bees” and “The Mermaid Chair,” will speak during the Wells College Arts & Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in Phipps Auditorium, Macmillan Hall.

Tickets will be available for $10 from the box office beginning at 1:30 p.m. today. To reserve tickets, call 364-3456 or stop by the box office from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

At Wells, Kidd will speak about her work and life in the South. She will also hold a question and answer session followed by a book signing.

The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Board of Education will hold two additional meetings at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 18 and 19, at the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Regional Education Center, 1879 W. Genesee St. Road, Auburn.

Waterfowl id course to be held

Birders and hunters are invited to participate in one of four Waterfowl Identification Courses being offered this fall.

Attendees will learn to identify ducks, geese and swans through plumage patterns, size, silhouettes, flight characteristics, calls and even the sound of their wings.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.

Heart Expo to host entertainers

The Seward Jump Rope Team is scheduled to perform at 9 a.m. and the Owasco School Ball Handlers will display their talents at 9:30 a.m. during the annual Heart Expo held from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

SS. Peter and Paul to host pasta dinner

A pasta dinner to benefit the SS. Peter and Paul CYO Programs will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Ukrainian National Club, Washington and Cottage streets.

Dinner includes pasta and meatballs, salad, bread and butter, dessert, coffee and soda. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. Diners may eat in or take-out.
