Dickman Farms to host garden weekend
Dickman Farms Greenhouses and Garden Center will hold its Fall Gardening Weekend Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16, at the garden center, 13 Archie St. Auburn. Seminars with experts will be offered for free and no registration is required.
Scheduled events for Saturday begin at noon and continue to 3 p.m. Events include: Making Autumn porch planters, how to care for roses, what to plant during fall and indoor gardening. Sunday events begin at 1 p.m. and continue to 4 p.m. Events include: Winter landscapes, dividing perennials, African Violets and how to force winter blooms.

Van Anden Street hosting yard sale
The Van Anden Street neighborhood improvement group is hosting a streetwide yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, between Washington and North Division streets in Auburn.
Along with the sale, the Auburn Police Department is offering a bike rodeo for children and the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office will be offering fingerprinting. In case of rain, the event will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the following Saturday, Sept. 22.
Wetlands complex to hold bird ID course
The Montezuma Wetlands Complex will host four waterfowl identification courses this fall.
Birders and hunters are invited to learn to identify ducks, geese and swans through plumage patterns, size, flight characteristics, calls and other methods.
Sessions are available from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Montezuma Audubon Center, and 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 30 at the Audubon Center. A youth session is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Visitor's Center.
