Two Cents

To all you telephone-talking, one-handed drivers, you can make it safer for yourself and the rest of us by buying a wheel spinner. In the '30s and '40s and early '50s before directional lights, when you had to signal which way you were turning with your left hand, you controlled the steering wheel with your right hand on the wheel spinner.
Meridian area people, better check with your home owners' policy holder, as without the Meridian Fire Department and if you're located in excess of five miles from Jordan or Cato Fire Departments, you may be reclassified as “unprotected” and see a substantial increase in your fire insurance costs.

To quote Jon Budelmann, Republican candidate for DA: “things you do to make the community better make you feel better.” Cato Town Board members, how do you feel about yourselves for putting Cato into turmoil?

Mr. Chick should wake up in jail like all criminals. He's not a victim, he's a criminal.

Gee, must be Mr. McNabb is up for reelection - finally making some noise.

Response to people of Meridian by the Cato Town Board: We don't have documented research or a documented study nor a contingency plan in place, but we're not renewing the Meridian Fire Department contract. Are they for real?

" I am responding to number 444. I am a parent who was present at this game and never saw any coach yell at any child. All of the players were equally subbed in and out of that game. How about being appreciative to the fact that these coaches volunteer their own time to teach our children how to, not only play football, but have fun in the process! Or better yet, why don't you become a coach yourself if you think you can do a better job. "

" Hillary tells any group of people what they want to hear. Hill and Bill are real good at politics. I hear all the time about how Cheney is getting rich from Halliburton. He hasn't been invloved with the business for yrs. Hill on the other hand. Invested 1000 bucks in the futures market. Turned that into 100,000 k. I smell a huge rat there. You have white water rose law firm. A dead body in a park from travel gate. Remember Vince Foster? The media should have a field day when that was going on. The white house sleep overs of donors. Some was chinese. Recall Johnny Chung? Bill's I didn't have sex with that woman, define sex? Shows me the media is very biased. The next business to close up. Probley will be a convinance/gas station. That can no longer compete with Lake Side Trading unfair advantage. Of not paying taxes or enviromental fees to sell fuel. Let alone the tax free cigarettes "

" dont get me wrong I dont like Hillary as much as the next person but who was that Pataki guy and what good did he do while he was here for all that time. just because you dont have a republican/conservative to blame hehemmm reganomics, largest debt ever, trickedown THEORY. Dont blame a Hillary. The Republicans have quite the track record when it comes to jobs and budgets. And that is FACT. "

" Hey aerobics77: Why not ask Hillary where the 200,000 jobs she promised are. With those kind of numbers, it wouldn't be a problem to absorb 75 or 80 jobs. Oops, my bad: We've lost 112,000 jobs in Upstate New York since she was elected. She's a little too busy now raising money for her presidential run (which is the ONLY reason she moved to New York) to do anything about it. "

" Farmer's Gal--i DID look up your "closing" post for Sept 10th, and must say "Thank You" for your eloquence and understanding of my position in this matter. My whole purpose has been to counter what I believe to be that profoundly arrogant and harmful contention that one must believe in a myth in order to be considered a "good person" worthy of salvation and presumably reap the the SAME rewards as some of these hypocrites whose actions scream "do as I say, not as I do"! It's these people who are voting in people like George Bush, the "Master of Disaster", leading the fight to change our Constitution to deny rights to certain citizens, are trying to alter the Supreme Court to legislate their prejudice and bigotry (the recent setbacks for minorities)and corrupt the scientific teachings in our schools. I mean, really--we worry about terrorists destroying America, and here we have these people doing it in our back yard! If people would only learn to question Authority, reject Fear, and think for themselves--ALL things which Religion REJECTS OUT-OF-HAND!!--the world might be a better place! Anyway, your wisdom and eloquence are much too rare on this site and a sweet morsel to savor by my eyes and mind! I should think it would be quite a pleasant experience to run into you! Now--we shall continue this debate in the Letters section! :) "

" Once again I will point out that it was not I who chose to muddle up this "Two Cents" section with this continuing debate! My my! Kicked a real hornet's nest, haven't I? As I have been honored by the Citizen with a letter published today, this will be my second-to-last post in this section today--insult away. cm, Chris Van COULTER, etc. If you have any integrity whatsoever and have the courage to have your comments answered, I will see you in the "Letters" section in my letter's post/forum. C-YA!! "

" C'mon CM, Karl is a theological scholar, didn't he tell you that? He's also a structural, thermal and areonautical engineer when it relates to what happened on this date 6 years ago. Karl is so hip he can't see over his pelvis...just ask him! "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Sep 11, 2007 1:23 PM:

" P.S. I added some comments at the last minute to yesterday's Two Cents. My hope was to bring to conclusion my part of that conversation peacefully. Interested parties can search The Citizen for "Two Cents" and check the comments for 10 September. Others, I return you to your regularly scheduled programming. "

" Like you said, in the 30s and 40s. A wheel spinner is not going to give them any better control over their car if they are on a cell phone when their mind is else where. "

" YES! turn signals are not optional on a vehicle they come as standard parts-USE THEM! Did anyone see Dr.Phil yesterday--the girl who thinks texting & driving is a joke??? Did you want to smack her and say HELLO NO YOU DON'T GET IT!!??!! The "it won't happen to me" ideals should look at Nick Hogan's speeding/tickets/accident that may leave his close friend brain-damaged for his wreckless actions! "

cm wrote on Sep 11, 2007 12:33 PM:

" Karl--you asked me to read differential info- Karl L wrote on Sep 7, 2007 5:12 PM "Consider the uproar that "The DaVinci Code" caused recently in this day and age of instant communication and google and the Internet, television, etc. It took a long time and a lot of work by The Church to debunk the notion that Jesus has kids, was married, etc." I CONSIDERED and ALSO ADD: today there are atleast 30 different ancient texts covering Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam-that very specifically mention Jesus, before and after crucifixion-that have been quieted by the catholic church. When writers, that were historians/theologians/eyewitnesses from various religions and backgrounds speak of a prophet/messiah/Jesus/God-Why would they MAKE UP a fictional character? He was a carpenter that traveled, spoke of good deeds, love, hope, belief, and to bring peace to the world! "
