We want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital continues to serve the community.
None of our services have changed since the onset of the Berger Commission process. We're open and providing business as usual in all service areas, including E.R. care, inpatient care and outpatient services.
In fact, we're expanding and improving equipment and services in many areas. Improvements to our surgical suite were completed this spring.
We will be completing renovations soon to install digital fluoroscopy equipment. We recently began offering digital X-rays using our state-of-the-art Computed Radiography system.
Medical technology updates are ongoing with our Meditech Hospital Information System, keeping Lee Memorial on the leading edge of patient-care services.
We can even offer wireless high-speed Internet access to our patients.
We're proud to say that we recently hired our largest group of graduate registered nurse degree program nurses in Lee Memorial's history.
These nurses told us that Lee Memorial was their first choice; they didn't want to work anyplace else.
We're also being good neighbors, helping care for our environment by switching to a revolutionary I.V. bag that will reduce our plastic waste by over one ton each year.
This new bag design is also easier and safer to use.
The Berger Commission process continues, and we expect several meetings with State Health Department officials in coming months.
Our goal is to negotiate an outcome for Lee Memorial and the Greater Fulton community that preserves local access to E.R. care and inpatient care.
When the initial announcement came last November, this community spoke out loud and clear: Save Lee Memorial.
That continues to be our focus.
We appreciate the outpouring of support from the community, and we encourage everyone to continue accessing Lee Memorial for their health care needs.
