Tashi can do a disappearing act in his little condo
Each Sunday, The Citizen features a pet which is available for adoption.
This week, we spotlight Tashi from the Cayuga County SPCA.
Q. Who is your best friend?
A. The person who helped me escape and brought me here. She was very kind.
Q. Do you know any special tricks?
A. Sort of. The cats now have little condos inside their condos. I can move my condo so that no one sees me. It's a disappearing act!
Q. Do you get along with other animals?
A. I get along with cats ... not dogs though. They really scare me.
Q. Who do you prefer, adults or children?
A. Because I'm small and vulnerable, I feel most comfortable with people who know how to be kind and gentle with little animals. That would be adults.
Q. How often do you like to be groomed?
A. A weekly brushing is good enough for me and this is where my sort of trick comes in handy. If they don't see me - I don't have to get brushed.
Q. What has been your worst experience?
A. What I thought was my worst experience really wasn't. When I got trapped and brought to the shelter I didn't know what was going to happen to me, but it turned out OK.
Q. Do you have any advice for The Citizen's readers?
A. Yes. Please take advantage of the shelter's Feline Fever program and come here to find your next feline friend.
Tashi
Breed: Domestic short hair
Age: About 9 months old
Comments from the SPCA: Tashi came to the shelter as an escapee from a local correctional facility. He is a very cute little boy, has huge olive-colored eyes and really does want to respond - he just needs to gain trust. If you need a short-term project, Tashi's your guy.
He is negative for FIV/ Leukemia, is up to date on
all vaccinations, has been
de-wormed and flea treated
and he is neutered.
Tashi is part of our extended Feline Fever program, which will continue through September. The adoption donation for all cats and kittens has been reduced to $20. For most felines, this would include either up-to-date vaccinations or first vaccinations for kittens, FIV/Leukemia testing if old enough, worming/flea treatments and spay or neuter for those cats that are old enough. For cats and kittens that have not yet been spayed or neutered, we are required by law to take a refundable $50 spay/neuter deposit. An adoption application must be filled out and approved.
