Legislation should be only way to solve land claim

Friday, September 7, 2007 10:57 AM EDT

Proposal for handling national Indian land claims:
€ Immediately ratify all existing treaties - Indians no longer wards of the federal government.

€ Abolish the Bureau of Indian Affairs (incompetent) and have trust fund payments administered by the attorneys general of individual states.

€ All Indian lands in question will be subsequently returned to the individual states and tax-free land is returned to the tax rolls.

€ Eliminate sovereignty as per congressional ruling in 1871.

€ Indians, as U.S. citizens, should enjoy all of the rights, privileges and responsibilities available to all citizens.

The federal government should legislate - not mediate, not confiscate, not obfuscate!

Let's end representation without taxation!
