Two Cents

Tuesday, September 4, 2007 11:17 AM EDT

If you are too lazy to mark yard sale items, I would like to make a suggestion: all on one table, $1 each; 50 cents each on another table, etc. and larger or more costly could be marked.
To the older woman that stopped by my table at the NYSF Veterans Memorial, who needed another woman to speak with, you are welcome. Even though I never was in the Corps, you made my day on Veterans Day, and thank you for remembering my late father and his service to our country.

Mr. Murray Lynch is a prolific, if not always accurate, writer (literary license so to speak). I do not understand, however, how he can claim to follow the ways of Jesus with so much hate in his heart for President Bush.

I wish there was an Asian grocery store or market here in Auburn.

Let's face it Auburn school district, when the committee wants the turf, they will have turf. They are the dictators.

" I like anyone that has high speed internet. It makes it so much easier for me to go wireless and not worry about the internet service bill. :-) "

" I am on the other end, with my youngest starting his senior year in high school today -- and thrilled that they are finally almost old enough to take care of themselves. You just have to hunker down and survive those teenage years and hope that all those good things you tried to teach them when they were little come through and that they go off into life and come back as decent adults, like ugly caterpillars hatching out of their chrysalises into butterflies. My kids aren't bad kids -- there have been no issues with drinking, drugs, fast cars, staying out late, getting in trouble with girls or other guys, lying, cheating, stealing, vandalism -- none of the things lots of kids do. No, they are just plain lazy, despite having two very hard-working parents. So much for "actions speak louder than words" and teach by example. Sigh. Like I said, I have to have faith they will grow out of it as they grow up. But, no, I am not heartbroken that the kids are back in school -- if they'll just put their intelligence to use, do their schoolwork and pass all their classes, I will be content. Different perspectives for different stages of life, not to mention every person is an individual, but I have a feeling the "empty nest" is going to be like a nice vacation break at long last.... "

" Who made you the yard sale police? If I don't want to mark yard sale items, that's my right. I want to haggle and I will probably sell for less but sell more. "

" Why can't the state champs get a sponsor to pick up the cost of turf? Pepsi, Coke or Dominos? Or here in Newburyport, MA a group of citizens are raising funds for repairs to the stadium and turf at a cost of $1.7 million from bake sales, walk-a- thons, wine tastings, pledges, and contributions from businesses and just about any way they can raise money. They don't just write to the editor and complain, they act. And Newburyport is the smallest city in Massachusetts. About the same size as Auburn. "

" With Verizon FIOS it is important that you use the filters you get in your start-up kit. Without these filters your highspeed internet can interfere with your phone signal. Read the install instructions or call your support line for help. There is no charge for support. The technology is a little more complicated than Ma Bell. It is worth it to have a competitor to the monopolistic cable companies high rates. "

" Just as before...any proposal to use capital funds for a Holland Stadium renovation (including new field turf) will be subject to a public referendum. The voters (those that do vote) will decide. "
