HIT: To the 2007 Pinckney Division champion Auburn Doubledays.
That's now six straight division titles - a feat that has only happened one other time (Oneonta 1977-1982) since the New York-Penn League went to a short-season format in the late 1960s.
It's a tribute to the players and manager Dennis Holmberg that they again showed Auburn's fans they have the mettle to repeat.
It's also a nice tribute to the man the division is named after, former Citizen sports editor and NY-P president, Leo Pinckney.
Somehow, we know that Leo is smiling because the Doubledays still wear the Pinckney Division crown.
MISS: To what might be yet another long season for Syracuse University football fans.
The Orange's 42-12 season-opening defeat to the University of Washington on Friday shows this program has a long way to go to regain respectability.
Yes, it may only be one game, and sometimes teams can pull off a turnaround but from what we saw, it doesn't appear likely.
The Orange still need help on the offensive line and their defense wore down in the second half.
It makes you wish for the days of only a decade ago when Donovan McNabb and the Orange were a ranked team.
HIT: To Auburn Correctional Facility CO Mike Murray who is training to participate in the torch run for the Special Olympic World Summer Games in China on Sept. 23.
It's a great honor for Murray, who puts in about 220 hours of volunteer service each month.
He is one of 50 U.S. law enforcement representatives selected. We wish him a safe trip as he takes the journey of a lifetime.
