Spectacular farewell to summer
GEDDES - Lynda Bear couldn't say no to her 6-year-old daughter Laurann, who wanted to spend one of her last days of summer at the New York State Fair on Monday.
“She told me I had no choice, that we were going,” Lynda said with a chuckle. “I had to go.”
Lynda's arm didn't have to be twisted that much. The Auburn woman missed the fair last year, and didn't want to make it two years in a row.

Several years ago, the Rev. Rhonda House was in the midst of training to be a police officer when she suffered a severe back injury. The damage to her spine caused her to undergo many months of intense rehabilitation, and unfortunately she had to discontinue her training, just months before she was scheduled to graduate.
