If not bartending, he'd like to be coaching NBA
Each Wednesday, The Citizen features someone in the food services industry from the Finger Lakes community in The Banks: This week, we spotlight Richard Granato, a bartender at Daut's Restaurant.

Q. What is the one food you cannot live without? Why?

A. Pizza. Probably because I'm Italian.

Q. Fill in the blank. People would be surprised to know that even though I work in the food industry, when I am at home in the kitchen, I __________.

A. Seldom cook.

Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes?

A. Teaching and watching my boys play sports.

Q. If you were given $1 million to open your own restaurant or bar, describe the bar or restaurant and what type of food you would serve.

A. A sports bar, with all kinds of TV, pizza, wings and sandwiches.

Q. Where would it be located?

A. Miami. My oldest son lives there; it's a good retirement place.

Q. On the day of your restaurant/bar's grand opening, if you could select anyone in the world to be your first three guests, who would they be?

A. Bill Clinton, because he was president; Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez, because I'm a big sports fan and the Lakers are my favorite team and A-Rod is my favorite players on the Yankees.

Q. Describe your most embarrassing moment while working on the job.

A. Some crazy things go on with the girls I work with.

Q. What is your favorite junk food?

A. Doughnuts. I like a nice chocolate donut with white cream in the middle.

Q. What have you learned are the top three ways to run a successful food business?

A. Be honest, have good food like Daut's does and take care of customers.

Q. If you weren't working in the food business, what would you like to be doing?

A. Coaching in the NBA.

Q. Ughh. What's the one food which you absolutely can't stomach? Why?

A. Broccoli. I don't even like the smell of it.
