Republicans support welfare for the wealthy

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 10:16 AM EDT

The Republicans are complaining about entitlements for the poor. They don't talk about entitlements for the rich and the special interest.
The Republican Congress gave $249,000,000 as a bonus to a defense contractor, who was 42 percent over budget and 20 months late.

Talk about your welfare for the wealthy.

" Well Karl, maybe you should work on your reading comprehension skills. I said that the DOD makes the payments with oversight by the GAO, not the evil, warmongering Republicans as Mr. Kelly asserts. And yes, it does make me angry that bonuses are being paid that aren't deserved. And Karl, if you are going to present informaton, you should be able to substantiate it with a factual reference. "

" Chris, I didn't find ONE FACT in your rebuttal there to counter Ron's claim. How do YOU know t's not true?! If it were wouldn't that scare you? Make you angry? Or just make you sit there and struggle for something else more stupid and ornery to say? SIGH....Conservatives and logic are like oil and water... "

" Blah blah blah. Why don't you talk about the 3rd generation welfare recipients doing nothing about their circumstances, but complaining. They sit on their porch, and stay up all night keeping me awake. Talk about that for a moment. "

" Republicans, like mean people, suck! Hey Chris, are you a Republican? "

" Why the Citizen prints this garbage is beyond me. No substance, no references...just Republicans are bad. BTW, Sen. John McCain (R) has been pushing the Pentagon to adopt "fixed price" contracts for weapons R&D, instead of the insane "cost-plus" agreements, which give defense firms huge bonuses, even when their projects spin out of control. Besides, Congress doesn't make the bonus payments slick, its the Dept. of Defense which is supposed to be overseen by the GAO (the non-partisan audit, evaluation, and investigative arm of Congress). Whatever party is in the majority of congress is irrelavent. Liberals and facts are like oil and water. I would suggest that the letter author use something called "Google" in the future to substantiate his claims. "
