SENNETT - The Cayuga County Sheriff's Department is one of four police agencies in New York which will receive a grant to put more police on the streets. Specifically, the $145,578 that the Sheriff's department receives will pay for two new patrol deputies for three years, at which time the county will take over payment. Cayuga County Sheriff Peter Pinckney is pleased with the opportunity to cut back overtime, and increase overall police presence.

AUBURN - Rep. Sherwood Boehlert has done little on the federal level to intercede in Indian land claim issues because the 10-term Republican is receiving campaign contributions from the Oneida Nation, his opponent, Dr. David Walrath, is charging. “He says the state is (responsible),” Walrath said Wednesday during an Auburn Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Holiday Inn. “Perhaps his vision would be clearer if he wasn't receiving money from the Oneida Nation.”
