After briefly backing out of the terms they agreed to at the beginning of the year, the Batavia Muckdogs' front office did suffer the consequences of losing the Jailbird Series to the Auburn Doubledays after all, Sunday night at Falcon Park.
Batavia's front office had agreed to a bet with Auburn's front office before the season that the loser of the Jailbird Series, comprising of the first nine games between the two teams, would suffer some consequences. Although these terms were agreed to beforehand, Batavia's front office had informed Doubledays general manager Carl Gutelius on Friday that they would not be able to come to Falcon Park Sunday night to participate in the finale of the Jailbird Series.
However, on Saturday night, during the Doubledays-Muckdogs matchup at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, several Doubledays fans in attendance displayed their disappointment at the recent turn of events. Therefore, Muckdogs general manager Derek Sharp informed the Doubledays that he would restore the dignity of the Jailbird Series and personally be present to settle the bet.
Sharp was in the dunk tank for the game on Sunday, as fans paid $1 per shot to see him swim on the chilly night, with proceeds going to the Hillside Children's Center.
