After running from police and hiding for more than two weeks, Keith E. Titus was arrested Saturday. The Auburn man drove a truck that crashed into a tree and sent himself and three other people to the hospital, where he eluded police and left from a side door, police have said.
The Auburn Police Department arrested Titus Saturday in Syracuse and he was transported back to Auburn. He was arraigned and moved to the Cayuga County Jail Sunday, police said.

The 27-year-old was wanted on charges of second-degree vehicular assault and driving while under the influence. The DWI charge is a felony because of his previous offenses.

On Aug. 8, Titus was driving a work truck when it collided with a tree on South Lewis Street. The impact injured Titus and his three passengers.

Richard J. Walters, 37, of Auburn, Reginald Townsend, 35, of Auburn, and James Hobby, 28, were in the 1999 Chevrolet Crew Cab.

Police pointed to speed and alcohol as contributing factors in the collision.

" In reply to what "Damian" writes: if you moved away because one of these "thugs" bothered you for whatever reason, maybe you should do one of two things. One, stay out of the area and live life without these "animals" as you refer to them. Or two, move back and live your own life and avoid getting back into the same lifestyle you were in when you knew these characters. I too know these people, and can say that Mr Titus has been the menace to society you should look out for for quite some time. Whereas Mr. Townsend seems to have been with the wrong crowd at the wrong time. Mr Walters and Mr. Hobby could surely need some improvement on mending into a righteous way in society. But who was driving the truck and who eluded the police and ran hiding like a coward for two weeks? Yep, Mr. Kieth "here comes trouble" Titus. So "Damian". You have the two choices before you. Stay far away and sling mud on your old friends or come back and avoid them and do your duty physically to help out and clean up the area. You see, I know who you are too. And I know your past is probably your present. "

" I moved from my home town 7 years ago, I didn't want to I had to. The rapid decline of the way of life was a death sentance to almost anyone who stayed and tried to make it there in an economically depressed area. I will say I follow area news closely as I would like to return for family reasons. The people in this story are no strangers to the law. I've actually had unfortunate run ins with the thugs named in the past. Society needs to take these people off the streets. I do not know what happened to these people where they decide to prey on society but it does not matter. Political correctness aside, these types of people are just plan bad foer the general public. I say this as I just attended the funeral for my friend Sgt. Ron Harrison of the Hillsborough Sheriffs department who was murdeered in a cold blooded ambush at a traffic light by a punk like these dirtbags by a scumbag who had been arrested 19 times like these people have been. It's unfortunate there was an accident, but let's be honest, these animals are a menace to the society. Get rid of them and take your town back. Damian "
