I see a mailman in Syracuse was out on disability and was working and collected over $400,000. There should be a number in the newspaper that we could call when we see people that are supposed to be disabled and they're working.
“Band Geeks,” as you call us, can do more than just march around with an instrument/flag and rifle. All you other “sports” do not have to memorize 75 drill sets, all your flag routine and music for all the songs, for thousands of people.

The thing that is so disturbing about The Citizen, is not that they print Murray Lynch's letters promoting pure communism, sacrilegious treatment of Jesus and God, but that we the public are not allowed to expose, rebut and confront Murray's letters. Why doesn't he move to Cuba.

After reading Mr. Cosentino's excellent article on the Home Depot fiasco, there is no doubt in my mind, and hopefully the citizens of Auburn, that Lattimore and Dempsey must be voted out of office.

I'm wondering if The Citizen, our local paper, could open up one day a week to help the unemployed run advertisements about their experiences we each have. Maybe some employer might notice that.

What's with all these light up signs at all the schools in Auburn that are on all night? What a waste of taxpayers money.

Maybe to a simple mind, property that is maintained and pays significant taxes (GE/Powerex) is an eyesore, but not to the informed. The buildings contain part of the decontamination equipment and will continue to store the core samples from the test wells until the EPA releases a final determination as to the status of the project.

The new football season is almost upon us. I think The Citizen should run a poll having its readers vote on who is their favorite NFL team.

At one time cars were for the purpose of providing transportation but today they are also toys for adults who have the brains of children and shouldn't be driving.

To the Cayuga County Legislature: Who do you represent - the views of Governor Spitzer or the views of the people of Cayuga County, who live in the Cayuga Indian land claim. No sovereign nation, no reservation!

About the Little Caesar's in Auburn: It was mentioned two weeks ago on Rick and Julie on Channel 9 News, about the guitar-playing kids.

It gives me great pleasure to see the sheriffs patrolling in Owasco. Keep up the good work, Dave!

Get ready for another jump in the school taxes next month, but it will be worth it to keep your kids in school.

How about all those wannabes walking around with military clothing and ball caps. Join the military first!

To all the moms and dads that are dropping off and picking up their kids at Owasco school, let's keep this area nice and clean and not park on the grass.

Just think, soon I'll be at the age to go out welfaring and collect all the freebies like my grandmother, my grandfather, my mother, my father did.

Anybody, and I do mean anybody, but Hillary Clinton for president.

In my opinion, if they are going to have the city council meetings on television, why don't they check out their microphones? You can't even hear what the people are saying at the podium.

I just wonder what Bible college Mr. Lynch graduated from. Interesting to find out, wouldn't it be?

Cayuga County and Auburn's way to get more tourist business is to raise taxes on motel rates, restrict the kind and time motor homes and trailers can park in the city, and raise parking fees on all other vehicles.

The people who are crying about a boot being placed on their car for non-payment of tickets are probably ones that are not paying their tickets.

I don't think Lyme disease is President Bush's problem. The war in Iraq is his problem.

Merchants, how about leaving customers parking places in front of your businesses?

" DD, you're an idiot--the best way to help out your fellow man in the immediate sense is to give him money to better his life and situation. Yeah, all that stuff about "teaching a man to fish" is fine and important too, but when a person hasn't eaten in 3 days, give him a few bucks or food stamps so he can fill his stomach. You're arguing fine points while people are dying. "

" "BAND GEEKS," JOCKS," NERDS." WHY THESE LABELS? THESE KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS AND FAMILIES ARE ALL A VITAL PART OF COMMUNITY PRIDE, AND SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS SUCH. THEY ALL WORK HARD AND DO WELL. IN ADDITION, I LIKE VAN HALEN AS MUCH AS THE NEXT FAN, BUT I REALLY DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS AN EARTH - SHATTERING ISSUE TO BE AIRED IN THIS COLUMN. MY OPINION. I HOPE THERE WILL BE NO ENORMOUS SLAMS FOR EXPRESSING IT. I WISH ALL WELL, BUT A LITTLE LESS ANIMOSITY IS A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE. "

" Oh, Karl--calm down. Murray was incorrect with his letter about wealth and God. That's about it. That's pretty much what I said, right? I'm not super religious, but for all of you who don't believe in God, I hope you're right. Even the Jews, and Muslims acknowledge the existence of Christ. God/Christ's teachings do not state that it is wrong to be wealthy, but it is wrong to not use your resources to lead others to him. If he means that it is wrong to not help out your fellow man, then he is right on. "

" Bobbo, I don't think the VH thing will last. Eddie is already back in rehab, he won't be able to stay away from the bottle, DLR is an A$$#@lE and won't be able to let seeping dogs lie, and the son playing with his father?! I give it three shows, tops. That's my prediction. "

" In the words of David Lee Roth, this is not a Van Halen reunion. I think it was rotten the Van Halen brothers kicked Michael Anthony out of the band to put Eddie's son Wolfgang in (on the official band website they actually airbrushed out Michael Anthony on old album pictures and put in pictures of 16 year old Wolfgang until they changed it back when there was a fan uproar). I haven't heard Wolfgang play bass so i don't know if he's any better or worse than Michael Anthony, but an important part of the Van Halen sound was the background vocal harmonies which were all Michael Anthony. "

" No tax increase in this school ditrict should be embraced by anyone. This district has declining enrollments and increasing taxes. As usual this paper always attributes increases in taxes with benefits to the students. This is total "BS". Cut the excessive spending and look at getting rid of the administrative staff, instead of increasing the superintendents salary and then paying his moving expenses. Please stop telling me that if I pay a little more tax, the school will hire more staff to reduce the drop out rate! Here's an idea-make the school counselors already on staff do a little better job. "

" VAN HALEN IS BACK!!! David Lee Roth is with them! I wonder if they'll still have the magic. At $125 for good seats, I guess I won't know. Hey Karl, you think DLR can still sing, or will they have machines that correct his pitch? Micheal Anthony retired his bass but Eddie's son, Wolf Gang Van Halen, is taking his place. "

" Hahaha, Karl you kill me! Seriously, I don't get the Citizen (I live out of state). I don't even know who Murry Lynch is, but I can see how you might think it was me 'cause of all my communism postings. In fact, I agree with you on your religous views. I was raised catholic (even went to catholic school in Auburn), but have lost my faith in any religion since. I don't believe in god, but I respect and understand people who do. Personaly, I don't have much blind faith, I rely on science. "

" Booboo, that asinine post about Murray Lynch "promoting Communism" replaces the previous "stupidest post of the year" title from the previous one and there can only be one Communism-obsessed person on this site who could've posted it...wanna step up and admit your blatant misrepresentation and attempt to slur this righteous man? Look, Murray is guilty of thinking he's got some sort of direct line to God, but his heart's in the right place. To accuse him of "sacrilegious treatment" of Jesus and God is simply delusional and shows that , if NOT you, then the idiot who posted this response themself knows NOTHING of Jesus OR God, because as I understand the Bible, Murray's interpretation of Jesus' message is spot-on! You should seriously be ashamed of yourself! (but I know you don't have the maturity for that!) "
