Village of Cato residents should prepare to boil water this week. The village released an order to boil water beginning Wednesday as crews will work on the water system. Once the project is completed, they will flush the system so workers can take bacteriological samples.
The order will last until the bacterial tests are satisfactory. Officials estimate this will take one week.

Residents will questions should call the village office at 626-2397 or the Cayuga County Health Department at 253-1405.

They should either use boiled water or bottled water to cook with, drink, brush teeth, make ice, wash dishes, and preparing food.
