It's been a sad week in the local racing community. Joyce Johnson, mother of DIRT Modified Stars Alan and Danny Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 15 after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Johnson was 70.
Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue at the corner of Routes 250 and old 104 in the village of Webster.

Services will be held immediately afterwards at the Webster Rural Cemetery, located one mile west of the funeral home on Route 104.

Donations are encouraged to be made to a charity of your choice. Cards and other messages of sympathy can reach Milt Johnson at 6070 South Hill Road, Middlesex, NY. 14507.

Tonight at Cayuga County Fair Speedway will be the Bill McNabb, Hall Of Fame Classic. This race was held over from it's original date on Memorial Day Weekend because of rain. The Advance Auto Parts DIRTcar Modifieds will be running a pair of 53-lap features. Tonight's race will also count towards the Aramark, 5-Star Modified Series.

The hottest driver on the tour right now is no doubt Brett Hearn out of New Jersey. In the last two series races Hearn in the

Wentworth Construction, No. 20 has dominated the competition. A week ago Thursday Hearn won the first 50-lap race before rains put a stop to the second 50-lap event. Last Saturday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway Hearn led all 100-laps of the feature. Hearn was so dominate he lapped cars running well into the top ten.

This past Wednesday Hearn came home with a third-place finish at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey.

Another driver who is hitting his stride late in the season is Unadilla driver Billy Decker in the Gypsum Wholesalers, No. 91 At Lebanon Valley Speedway Decker brought home a second-place finish behind Hearn. This past Wednesday Decker parked his car in Victory lane at New Egypt Speedway.

Tim Fuller who sits second in series points will be making a homecoming of sorts tonight. Fuller, who drives the John Lazore Motorsports, No. 19, has racked up many wins and track titles at the Weedsport oval. Fuller has been splitting his time in 2007 between the World Of Outlaws Late Models and the Modifieds. Fuller stands eighth in the Late Model points and also leads the rookie of the year standings.

Jimmy Phelps out of Baldwinsville is poised to win his first ever CCFS track title in his family owned No.99j. On the tour Phelps drives the H&H, Troyer House Car No.99j. Don't be surprised if Phelps finds victory lane tonight.

Also on the racing card tonight is the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, BattleKarz Enduro and the traveling NY Modified Midgets.

With three point races remaining to decide the 2007 track champion in the Sportsman Modifieds it's down to two drivers within striking distance of each other. Point leader Shawn Donath leads the way in the Daniels and Mayfield No. 87 Right on his heels is the crate engine powered, MDV Construction, No. 14 of Jeremy Pitcher. This battle should come down to the final points race on Sunday, Sept. 2.

In the UMP Street Stocks, Nick Rizzo has all but sewn up the track title in his No. 115 In the BattleKarz Enduro ranks it comes down to the Werner family - Bill, Karl and Nick have shared the spotlight all season long.

Pit gates open today at 4 p.m. with spectator grandstands opening at 5 p.m.
