A frequent and vocal attendee of Auburn City Council meetings was charged by the Auburn Police Department with disorderly conduct after he disrupted the council meeting Thursday.
Earl Starring, 59, of 214 Woodlawn Avenue, Apt. 1, was escorted out of the meeting by an Auburn police officer after interrupting Auburn Police Chief Gary Giannotta's presentation about a measure that would permit police officers to place a steel boot on cars whose owners have more than $100 in unpaid parking tickets and eventually towing them.
He repeatedly voiced his opposition to the measure during the meeting. Mayor Timothy Lattimore told him that he was out of order three times.
Starring said that he disrupted the meeting to get the voices of the public heard.
“Disrupting the meeting was illegal,” he said. “But sometimes you have to do that to wake them up.”
Starring will be arraigned in Auburn City Court at 10 a.m. Monday.
