Commuters to and from Cayuga County who rely on E-ZPass at the Weedsport interchange should plan for some delays in the next couple of weeks.
The state Thruway Authority said Friday it will be closing the dedicated E-ZPass lane at Exit 40 for pavement reconstruction. That exit connects Thruway travelers to Route 34, a main corridor running north-to-south in the county.
The work will start at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20. The authority said it anticipates reopening the lane at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.
Motorists should expect minor delays during the morning commute, the authority said.
“The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this essential repair takes place,” a press release said.
