Jared Funk earned the win and his defense sparkled with 13 put-outs as Kayn Design defeated Tom Thumb 11-5 in the first game of the Auburn Little League championship series on Wednesday.

Mike Foltz, Funk (triple, double) and Matt Tehan each had two hits. Mitch Feocco, AJ Sheets (double) and Jim Spinelli (double) all added key hits as Kayn scored 10 runs in the fifth inning.

Noah Christiantelli also pitched for Kayn.

Skippy Fasce pitched well for Tom Thumb. Justin Fasce and Matt Moore paced Tom Thumb's offense with two hits each.

Other pitchers for Tom Thumb include Nick Mitchell, Moore and Steve Anseth.

Kayn Design 20, Mortimers 9

Kayn Design pounded out 22 hits in Monday's semifinal game.

Leading the offense was Mike Foltz (two triples), Noah Christiantelli (double) and A.J. Sheets (triple) with four hits apiece.

Jim Spinelli, Jim Cady, Mitch Feocco and Casey Engle each added two hits while Matt Tehan, Jared Funk and Spinelli combined for 11 strikeouts.

Matt Brooks (triple), Tom Alexander (two triples) and Robbie Relfe led Mortimers offensively.

Brooks and Alexander also pitched.
