AHS girls basketball sale is Saturday
There will be a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at 58 Lake Ave. to benefit the Auburn girls basketball program.

AHS soccer practice begins Aug. 20

Practice for Auburn varsity and junior varsity soccer begins from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20.

Physicals are needed to participate.

Downtown Mile set to kick off Aug. 24

The Citizen Downtown Auburn Mile is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24. The one-mile race begins at the corner of Washington Street and Genesee Street and ends at State Street.

Beverages will be provided for all participants following the race.

The entrance fee is $10 for early entrants and $15 on the day of the race.

T-shirts are guaranteed on race day for the first 200 registered by Aug. 17.

Hockey Club in need of qualified coaches

The Auburn Hockey Club is looking for qualified volunteers to coach youth hockey for the 2007-08 season.

Your chance to be in broadcast booth

The Auburn Doubledays are teaming up with the ALS Association to help the fight against amytrophic lateral sclerosis, also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Every Saturday throughout the season, auctions will be held for the chance to be in the WAUB radio booth for the fourth, fifth and sixth innings as the play-by-play of color announcer.

The winning bidder has the option and will be part of the broadcast on 1590 AM in Auburn as well as worldwide on milb.com.

The Doubledays will provide a CD of the game that day so that the winning bidder can have a recording to take home.

Bidding will take place on auburndoubledays.com as well as by phone in the Doubledays office at 255-2489.

Auctions will close the Sunday prior to the game up for auction at 7 p.m.

Half of the winning bid from the auction will go directly to the ALS Association.

Recreation rosters due by Friday

The Auburn Recreation Department is announcing that rosters are now available in the recreation department office located at the Public Works Garage, 358 Genesee St., Auburn, for the 2007 co-ed softball program.

All completed rosters and fees must be submitted prior to the close of business on Friday, Aug. 17, at the recreation department.

Freshman football sign-ups begin today

Sign-ups for Auburn Freshman Football will be on today and 16 at East Middle School/Holland Stadium.

Students must have a physical to play.

Practice begins Aug. 27.
