Downtown Mile set to kick off Aug. 24
The Citizen Downtown Auburn Mile is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24. The one-mile race begins at the corner of Washington and Genesee streets and ends at State Street.
Beverages will be provided for all participants following the race.
The entrance fee is $10 for early entrants and $15 on the day of the race.
T-shirts are guaranteed on race day for the first 200 registered by Aug. 17.

Rosters available at rec department
The Auburn Recreation Department is announcing that rosters are now available in the Recreation Department office located at the Public Works Garage, 358 Genesee St., Auburn, for the 2007 co-ed softball program.
All completed rosters and fees must be submitted prior to the close of business on Friday, Aug. 17 at the Recreation Department.
Countdown to Great Race: 2 days
The 30th annual Great Race will take place at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 12, at Emerson Park in Auburn. The race is a team triathlon consisting of two-, three-, and four-person relay teams. Participants can run, bike, canoe or kayak. The event is open to all ages. Applications are now available at the Auburn YMCA.

AAU hosting golf tourney Aug. 19
The AAU Basketball Golf Tournament will be held at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Lakeview Golf and Country Club. The cost to register a team is $260. The tournament will help raise money for next year's AAU Basketball team. There will also be a party immediately following the tournament at Daut's Restaurant. Applications are currently available at Daut's.

Auburn JV coach Shawn Solomon will be hosting a girls basketball camp from 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 27-31.
The camp is open for girls ages 7 to 15.
The fee is $40 for Y members and $80 for the general public. The camp fee includes a pizza party and a camp T-shirt.

D-days sponsoring trip to Toronto
The Auburn Doubledays will lead an outing to the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Sept. 29, to see the Blue Jays take on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Attendees will also have the chance to see their favorite Doubleday honored on the field during the annual Webster Awards.
Past winners include Vito Chiaravalloti, Ryan Patterson and Scott Campbell. The $99 cost includes field-level seats for the 1:05 p.m. game and bus transportation.

Practice for Auburn varsity and junior varsity soccer begins from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20. Physicals are needed to participate. New players are welcome.
