Two Cents

Quite recently I have been interested in buying swords. I noticed that adults in their 80s are normally against purchasing $90 swords and are more interested in making fake ones for the wall.
As I glance through the Sunday real estate section, I can't help notice that every ad has a contrived photo to go along with it. What's up with that?

Owens (OI) stock price is up over 170 percent in the last 12 months. Maybe the county should make a stock deal with them the next time they give away our tax dollars.

Thank you for the feedback about the gas station in Union Springs. Oh, by the way, I was in caves and tunnels in the Vietnam War.

I'm reading in The Citizen's Aug. 6 paper a write-up about how Skaneateles is worried about a street being repaired there, and they make it look like they're looking for a handout from other persons, when they don't even care about Auburn or Cayuga County residents.

Isn't it strange when our government has money for the Schine Theatre, dance institutes and other pork barrel items, but can find no money for a bridge, so people can come and go as needed.

" Boobo, can you sense someone is pulling your leg? I don't agree with your politics most of the time but I respect your opinion. I am trying to inject some humor into the mix, don't take it personally. I do object to others trying to regulate what is worthy of being posted. That includes the Citizen. I enjoy replying to your drivel with more of my drivel. "

" Brew, you are a walking contradiction. You bash people for judging others, and at the same time, you're constantly telling everyone what and what not to do on here. If you want to insult/judge my drivel, that's fine (I welcome insults), but don't preach to everyone about breaking rule # 4, while breaking the rule yourself. Its a stupid rule anyway. "

" I would like to say that I think Tim Lattimore is the best mayor Auburn has ever had.Whatever mayor has gotten out with the residents to talk about every concern they might have, to firsthand see what is going on and to just enjoy Auburn's people?! This morning he was out talking to the construction workers on the road and just enjoying being with the people of our city.He is the finest ambassador Auburn has ever had and his love for Auburn and interest in the city's well being is so obvious. When you talk to Tim, he is honestly interested in what you have to say-he is not just a "politician." " About caves: Somebody wrote in the other day in response to a post asking about the prices at the gas station in Union Springs. The original poster obviously didn't know the station was owned by the Indians, and the responder made a crack about the first person having been living in a cave not to know that. Apparently the original poster is a Vietnam vet who really did spend time living in a cave, not too pleasantly, I'd wager. In any event, it's just a case of no one being very concerned what they say about other people. BTW, I have a couple swords myself -- not expensive ones, not for decoration. I had a few years of fencing lessons, and own my own practice foils. No interest in the macho weapons trip -- I found fencing to require strength, endurance, coordination and intelligence -- yet it is a graceful sport as well. "

" Rule #4- Do not insult someone else's contributions or wit. I don't get it myself but neither you or I are the internet police. So just skip over the unworthy comment and read what you deem worthy. Let us all be the judge not you. And after all, we have to see Boobo's drivel posted every day. That is enough of a cross to bear. "

" I think I may have discovered one of the biggest wastes of Cayuga County taxpayers money, The Cayuga County Support Collection Unit! Somebody from Albany should probably come on over and see what is really going on in that office. "

" The road to repairs: The government gives the state an amount of money for D.O.T, states(NY)then decide what projects in what cities are of need --then the cities decide what projects they WANT to see thru..and after they waste a good portion of the funds on a "survey", they raise the taxes to aid the cost of the project-suddenly they CHANGE their minds-scrap the whole project and do something totally different with the funds! Years later, after a major accident like a bridge/road collapsing or levees breaking apart, the city will now whine to the goverment that it was HIS fault! If you Archive Aug.6th, you will have your "cave" answer. "

" Well once in a while people submit random topics into the twocents. If someone wants to talk about swords or other topics that interest them that would be ok. But i suggest that better subjects should be thought of in order to grab the attention of a large ammount of people instead of just a few. Well i guess we could submit something a bit humorous once in a while but lets not go too far. "

" Yeah, Bobbo, I've called in quite a few (with you in mind, of course! LOL! ;) ) but I guess that the conservative slant of the Citizen decided they were too "Liberal"! LOL! Maybe this is the start of the "kinder and gentler" Citizen?! EGAD! I hope not! "

" That parking for the county legislators is designated for the "fically handicapped". As usual they should be ashamed...but won't be! "

Bobbo wrote on Aug 9, 2007 2:37 PM:

" I don't get it either Karl!? That was not worth 2 cents. Something about swords? what do caves in vietnam have to do with union spring gas? Realtors are putting pictures of the homes they're selling (mysifying)???!!! And Skaneateles (onodaga co) don't care nothin' 'bout roads in cayuga county?? Who picks these comments? "

" You should take a look at the parking spaces in back of the County Office Building. You may notice that the Legislative reserved parking is closer to the building than the Handicapped parking?????????? Very interesting. "
