Little League home run derby is today
There will be a home run derby from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5 at Emerson Park. The cost is $10 per 10 at-bats for each child.
There will be several divisions for boys and girls age 7 to 13.
Prizes and trophies will be awarded to each division winner.
All proceeds benefit Central New York Little League All-Stars.
Make checks payable to CNY Major League All Stars. Payment will be collected the day of the event.

Final soccer sign-up is tomorrow
The Southern Cayuga Sports Conference Youth Soccer League begins practice the second week in August and games begin the first Saturday after Labor Day.
Children grades kindergarten through sixth are eligible to participate. Sixth graders must be 12 or under before Nov. 1.
The final sign-up is on Aug. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cream at the Top in King Ferry.
The cost is $30 for one child, $55 for two, $75 for three and $100 for four.

Downtown Mile set to kick off Aug. 24
The Citizen Downtown Auburn Mile is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24. The one-mile race begins at the corner of Washington St. and Genesee St. and ends at State St.
Beverages will be provided for all participants following the race.
The entrance fee is $10 for early entrants and $15 on the day of the race.
T-shirts are guaranteed on race day for the first 200 registered by Aug. 17.

CNY Cheer Company, Inc. is conducting cheerleading camps for all area cheerleaders.
One-day sessions for ages eight and up run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Aug. 7 and Aug. 22. A special session for youth football/Pop Warner cheerleaders will be held on Aug. 21.
Participants need to register at least one week in advance to each session.

Auburn Indians Pop Warner is still taking registrations for football players at the Jr. Midget and Midget levels, ages 10 to 15.
These are competitive levels with live kickoffs and punts.

The 44th annual Bobby Hoey Golf Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8 at Dutch Hollow Country Club.
