My dad, George A York (retired - George A York Jewelers) had a recent post-hospitalization stay at Cayuga County Nursing Home.
I would like the opportunity to rave about this facility.
The entire staff at CCNH is professional, conscientious and caring, across all areas of responsibility from janitorial to hands-on medical personnel.
At a stressful time, we were met with kindness as well as efficient and effective care.
They evaluated each and every need that my father had and made certain that his needs were met, going above and beyond on many occasions.
They addressed every possible medical service that he could require, head to toe (literally - they have a dentist and a podiatrist on staff).
There is a sense of extended family and they understand how precious the immediate family member is to those who visit their loved ones.
Not only did we experience this excellence during his stay, Social Services and others directly involved made absolutely certain that required, continued care was in place prior to his discharge and provided guidance to us so that we were prepared for his leaving the facility and their care.
At a time when there are horror stories regarding extended care, it's a tremendous comfort to me to know that such an excellent facility exists - and in our own backyard here in Cayuga County.
I sincerely hope our county legislators have a keen focus on this wonderful place and make certain their needs are met as they certainly meet the needs of many.
Thank you.
