Matt Steigerwald is in prime condition to win his second Cayuga County Men's District Championship in three years. Steigerwald, the 2005 winner, shot Friday's low round of 73 at Dutch Hollow Country Club to take an early lead.
Kyle Krickovich, who edged Steigerwald for the 2006 title, isn't in the field this year. But his father, seven-time District champ Ed Krickovich, shot an opening-round 78.

Brian Walker and Mike Lesch each shot a 74, Jim Catalfano, Bob Butera and Bobby Mitchell carded 75s while Sean Tonzi and Mark Soloman each shot 76.

The second round will be played today at Lakeview Golf and Country Club. The leaders will tee off at 11 a.m.
