There is a fascinating article in the June 15, 60th Anniversary issue of Golf World Magazine, about what golf might be like in the year 2067.
Deane Beman, former PGA Tour commissioner thinks that 60 years from now, the game will be like it was 20 or more years ago - with golf balls that curve and equipment that makes skill more important than technology.
“Until the modern era, nobody ever won anything if they couldn't drive it in the fairway, and I believe we are going to return to that-real shot values, real driving values,” said Beman in the article.
Kai Fusser, Annika Sorenstam's trainer believes that technology and early-starting junior “golf specialists” will be trained right out of the cradle to use their golf-specific muscles, and be taught early on to use muscles that take the strain off the ligaments and tendons.
“The question is, can we find a swing with less violence and teach it,” Fusser said in the article.

Kris May and Lewis Miller won the Championship-Scratch flight at the 77th Member-Guest at Owasco Country Club. Mike May and Jason Sciarro were second.
Second flight winners were Jim Vargason and Larry Hillmire followed by Brett Davenport and Brent Davenport.
Fred Murphy and Kevin Murphy won the third flight while George Shamon and Mike Mckeon were second. Fourth flight winners were Kevin Hogan and Kevin Pilipczak; Hugh Murphy Jr. and Mike Murphy were second. Patrick Carbanaro and Matt Chalanick won the fifth flight followed by J.K. Hogan and Bob Arliss. Sixth flight winners were Jeff Munn and Bill Gauthier; Jay Pearson and Mike Stone were second.
Dr. Dave Locastro and Mark Locastro won the seventh flight followed by Mike Brady and Chris Cooper.
Overall winner of the Robert Shaw Memorial were Jeff Munn and Bill Gauthier, winning a playoff among all flight winners.
Dave Powlina won the Dutch Hollow Men's Club Championship this past weekend. Dave Hoeft was second in the Champ Flight followed by Jerry Belcher. First flight winner was Andy Eckhardt, followed by Tim Siracusa and Butch Mazzeo. John Tanous won the second flight. Greg Pasik was second and Larry Shaffer was third.
Kathy Jo Champion won the Dutch Hollow Ladies Presidents Cup with a two day net total of 127.
Jennifer Ryan was second, followed by Eileen Weathers in third, Kathy Kusnierczyk in fourth, Nancy Hart in fifth, Alice Amoia in sixth and Sue Furst in seventh.
The Cayuga County Women's District Golf Championship will be held on Friday August 17th at Lakeview and on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Owasco.
