Volunteers needed to help clean lake
Volunteers can enjoy a day by the lake while doing something to benefit the area.
People are needed to pull water chestnuts out of Cross Lake near the Cayuga-Onondaga county line.
The invasive aquatic weed can destroy wildlife habitats, reduce fishing access and dampen recreational use.
Anyone interested can attend from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Cross Lake Park Canoe Launch on Dugar Road.
People are encouraged to bring a canoe or kayak and life jackets.
Call the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County at 255-1183 for more information.
