Downtown Auburn Business Improvement District will begin another search for executive director with the resignation of Michele Tarnow announced Tuesday.
Tarnow was hired to head BID in mid-May, but recently accepted an administrative job with Eastman Kodak in Rochester. BID leaders indicated that all sides are on good terms.
“It's a fact of life, it's one of those things that happens and you move on,” board president Henry MacDonald said Tuesday. “The search committee is meeting tomorrow to determine what direction they want to go.”
BID received 18 applications during the first search that stretched from January to May after former executive director Sandra Craner stepped down after five years.
“Our goal is to find someone who can best do the job,” MacDonald said, adding he didn't have “a shred of doubt,” the committee will do that within a reasonable time frame.
Tarnow intends to help with the transition. Consultant Tanya Hacker and Anna Sperduti will continue to direct events associated with the upcoming BID Winter Festival.
