Schweinfurth seeks quilts for exhibit
The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center is seeking entries for its 26th annual Quilts=Art=Quilts exhibit.
The exhibit at the center, located at 205 Genesee St., Auburn, will feature about 100 quilts from around the nation. The exhibit will open on Nov. 4 and run through Jan. 6, 2008. The entry deadline is Aug. 20, with the cost $20 for up to two quilts for center members and $25 for non-members.
Weedsport to hold dedication ceremony
The village of Weedsport will dedicate Trolley Park on South Street with a ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4. The park has been gradually developed since the 1980s. The most recent additions include a pavilion, bathrooms and picnic tables purchased in part with a $75,000 matching grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation fund.
Willard Chapel to host organist
The Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson St. in Auburn, will host local organist Joan Haff as part of the Tiffany Summer Concert Series. Haff will play the Steere and Turner organ installed in the chapel in 1893. She will perform at noon Wednesday at the chapel.
The concert is free, but donations to aid the maintenance and restoration of the building are always welcome.
Chiropractic college installs herb garden
The New York Chiropractic College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine recently installed a Chinese Medicinal herb garden on the grounds of the Seneca Falls campus.
College officials aim to attract gardeners, botanists, horticulture experts and practitioners of Oriental medicine to the area, as well as allow students to observe cultivation techniques. Seneca Meadows offered financial assistance for the garden.

Agency seeks used furniture donations
Volunteers of America's store has a shortage of furniture donations and is appealing to the community for donations of gently used furniture, such as couches, dining sets, entertainment centers and beds. They also accepts clothing, shoes cookware, books, electronics and appliances.
People can drop off items between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the store, 25 McMaster St. in Auburn.
