A 6-year-old Ohio girl has been found safe at a Syracuse-area motel with her noncustodial mother, who allegedly took off with the child during a supervised visitation in Ohio.
State police say they found Serena Kaviris and her mother Lithia Kaviris, 32, of Arkansas, at a motel in the village Elbridge. Authorities say the girl has been returned to relatives, while her mother is in custody in Syracuse.
An Amber alert was issued Saturday after Lithia Kaviris allegedly snatched her daughter during a supervised visit at a domestic violence shelter in Cleveland.
Lithia Kaviris recently lost custody of the child. Troopers say she was taking the child to Canada when police received a tip on Sunday that they were staying at a motel outside Syracuse.
