Smartt's philosophy is to enjoy life, family one day at a time

Monday, July 30, 2007 10:19 AM EDT

Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Cathleen Smartt of Tanning Bed.

Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A. Meeting all the new and interesting people that come in daily for their “rays of sunshine.”

Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

A. Getting people to understand our policies and procedures according to state laws and making sure every customer leaves here feeling happy and satisfied with our services.

Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?

A. I have what I want as far as a career.

Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?

A. I love to just go home to my family and hang out, spending time together and laughing.

Q. What do you like most about living and/or working in the Finger Lakes region?

A. It's a beautiful and friendly area.

Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?

A. The state assembly, to find out how they pick and choose which laws to pass and which ones aren't as much of a priority.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A. Not quite sure where my destiny lies.

Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?

A. Take my family on a vacation, bank the rest and keep my full-time job until I was too exhausted to do it anymore.

Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?

A. I'm very personable and outgoing and love people but definitely hate being put on display or being the center of attention.

Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what's the first thing you'd change?

A. Make and pass a law that if you wake up miserable, you are not to leave your house to ruin everyone else's day.

Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?

A. Just to enjoy life one day at a time.
