Reading program draws to a close
The final morning of the Aurora Library's 2007 Summer Reading Program, “Get a Clue @ Your Library,” will conclude from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 31, at the library, 370 Main St., Aurora.

The reading program is open to all children in Aurora and the surrounding area, and the program is free of charge. The program encourages participation of children from pre-school to pre-teen ages to stimulate and strengthen their reading skills.

OCC center to host career workshop

High school graduates and working adults may learn about career choices in computer and electrical engineering technology and telecommunication technology from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Onondaga Community College's Whitney Applied Technology Center (WATC) on the first floor, room W101.

Laird receives Miller award

SUNY Potsdam recently presented the Mary Powers Miller Award to Patricia Laird of Auburn.

As a result of a bequest from Mary Powers Miller, a monetary award is given to a deserving drama major each year.

The department of theater selects a junior whose average in their chosen major is 3.0 or better and whose continuous efforts as an officer of Theater Guild, director, actor, designer and/or technician contribute to quality productions.

Class reunion deadline extended

The RSVP deadline for the Union Springs High School Class of 1997 reunion has been extended to Saturday, July 28.

The reunion is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Yawger Brook Campground. The cost is $30 per person and includes all you can eat food, beer and door prizes.

Musical explores natural world

“Bugs, Slugs and Beaver Chews ... Wild Things Tunes, Wild Thing Clues,” a humorous musical show about our natural world featuring Tom Sieling, will be performed for children at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Friends Meeting House on Poplar Ridge Road, Poplar Ridge.

“Bugs, Slugs, and Beaver Chews” is a 40 to 60 minute science program for all age levels.

The program gets children to participate and is humorous, lively and informative.

Sieling accompanies himself on guitar, banjo and harmonica.

AHS Class of 1987 plans reunion

The Auburn High School Class of 1987 is planning a 20th reunion from 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 1, at the Auburn Public Theater, Genesee Street, Auburn.

They are planning a pre-reunion social gathering at 5 p.m. Aug. 31, at Spirits Tavern on State Street in Auburn.
