Thanks for not spoiling Harry Potter for readers

Wednesday, July 25, 2007 11:17 AM EDT

I would like to sincerely thank The Citizen from the bottom of my non-magical heart for not publishing any articles that spoil or give speculation about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”
Unlike many other newspapers which have published reviews days ahead of the release date and given a platform for those who speculate and gossip too much, The Citizen has at most given us a refresher of who's who and a list of vocabulary in the latest books.

J.K. Rowling herself has pleaded that all true fans do not give anything away so that everyone can read in peace, and as she said, we will finally know everything once we have finished reading.

Having just finished the final book, I can attest to how important this is.

I thank The Citizen for being true fans and loyal supporters of the Order of the Phoenix by allowing us Muggles to read this newspaper without fear of accidentally coming across spoilers around the non-moving pictures.

" ms. smith was simply thanking the citizen for not printing any spoilers..and somehow the conversation turned to abstinence and being catholic? "

" I'm almost insulted you didn't attack me for being a Catholic and a Harry Potter fan! "

" I'd ruin the book if I say anything about Harry's love life, but I should mention that I don't practice abstinence either - I practice chastity, because I'm too busy having a real life reading Harry Potter among other things! "

" I'll bet Harry didn't practice "abstinence", Valerie! "

" They didn't publish any articles about it because they're usually behind the times on stories anyhow, they just need time to catch up. ;) "

" I couldn't agree with you more Valerie. I am an avid adult fan and have enjoyed the series tremendously. It would have been a huge disappointment to find out the ending without having the pleasure of reading Rowlings work. "
