Two Cents

What is President Bushie going to be remembered for?
I just read in the paper that the Auburn comptroller, Lisa Green, made a statement about her salary. She says “What's the incentive for me to keep working?” but I'd say the incentive is so she can keep eating.

I wonder if big time Democrat Murray Lynch is backing Cherry Love-Duncan for council. I'll bet not.

I'm really curious why some of these restaurants' waitresses have their hair pulled back in pony tail, but still that is not very clean. Their pony tail with their long hair flaps in the breeze and it could easily get in the food.

If the good citizens of Auburn and Cayuga County continue to vote for the same all-star cast of shady characters, then the hopes that things will improve are never going to be realized.

Contrary to the belief of many of your Two Cent critics lately in The Citizen, the average person cannot run a controller's office. It takes years of experience and a college education.

East Genesee Street has only one metered handicap parking space downtown. If private developers own a site, the city requires several parking spaces.

" Dirtysanchez, are you not aware that 15 of the 19 alleged hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, and that Al Queda never existed in Iraq before we invaded and began occupying it? AS usual, all of your points are rooted in lies and conjecture rather than fact. "

" Karl-I agree with enforcing immigration laws, taxing churches, and getting Lohan into rehab. You have alot of good points at times that are hard to deny. You seem one sided at times too. "Impeach Bush & Chaney, and apologize to the world for our arrogance?" It wasn't arrogant of the extremests to hijack 4 planes with innocent people aboard, and fly them into NON MILITARY areas with the intent on killing as many people as they can? They should apologize to us. People--you're missing the point of us being in the middle east--we are interupting the terrorist networks where they begin, and thrive. Iraq encouraged terrorist activites, harbored terrorists, and allowed the organizations to funnel monies through their banks intented to finance acts of terrorism. They were the arrogant ones. They were the defiant ones. If you feel that the terrorists are justified in all they have done, even if we (the US) were wrong in any past actions, then you are a sympathizer. That, my friend is treasonous. But, we're in America--pretty much one of the only countries in the world where you are protected by the constitution to say whatever you want. Pretty ironic that there are so many people that think we're a horrible country, yet hide behind the constitution to ridicule our actions and policies. So, to all of the flag burning liberals who blat all day about how horrible our government is, move to Mexico, live like all of the happy residents there, and remember how horrible is was to be an American citizen. "

" Brew, give up the handouts and get a job; maybe you'll learn to realize the American Dream. You may be comfy/cozy with your handout of choice, but you should contribute something to society in order justify your place. As for the Muslim religion of hate, watch "Islam, What the West Needs to Know" and "Obsession, Radical Islam's War Against the West". New research in Oslo shows rapists are 6 times more likely to be Muslim. "

" Hey Brew... have you ever applied for Social Security disability benefits? You get 1 year of food stamps, but it can take 3 years or MORE to get approved for Social Security! Meanwhile the truly disabled people cannot jump through all the hoops they need to in the broken down DSS system, and get treated like 3rd rate citizens just by getting off the elevator on the DSS floor of C.O.B. Ive helped some disabled people with this process and I myself have been treated very poorly and I was not even the person applying for benefits!! As I was told by a DSS worker "We are not exactly looking for business" "

" If you go on food stamps for a short term in an emergency you may think you are getting too much as when you first apply for emergency food stamps it takes a while for then to get the food stamps to you and you may be getting retoactive funds dating from when you applied. Also emergency food stamps are for short term when you have zero income. I believe the term of aid is 60 or 90 days. Also I don't know if NY and MA are different but you only get 6 months of food stamps and if the hardship remains and is approved you can only get 6 months more. By then you get a job or if disabled get social sercurity. We grant people funds for food but welfare doesn't shop for them. What they spend their funds on is their business not yours. Live your life and let food stamp recipients make their mistakes. They will pay for their stupidity. "

Please, for the love of America, take off your FOX-colored glasses before election day! You want answers/solutions to problems? Impeach Bush and Cheney, try them for War Crimes, end the war now, dismantle the permanent mega-bases in Iraq and elect a leader with both guts to stand up to the wackos in the military-industrial complex and the Pentagon, and the strength to apologize to the world for America's arrogance and contempt of International Law. Enforce the LAWS on immigration, call China to account for its currency manipulation, and revoke the tax-exempt status of the Churches. That would be a good start. And for god's sake, get Lindsay Lohan into an effective rehab center! "

" Bush will be remembered just as every other president has been. The Republicans will be positive, and the Democrats negative. One thing is for certain: We are living in an ever changing world, where everyone is so much more de sensitized than 20 years ago. The fact that our soldiers are dying, and the stories are now on page six of the paper is at best, strange. Bush has stood up to the radical Islamists. They came here, and attacked us, and we are at the very least safer than before 9-11. The economy is at an all time high. Unemployment is at an all time low. The minimum wage is now higher. Yes President Bush prays to a higher power, and is made fun of by the liberals who would protest santa being in the village square if the Pagonisits were'nt allowed equal billing. Bush has his faults, but for the most part, he is neck and neck with the past performance of every other president in history. Instead of you whining liberals trying to place blame for everything wrong in the universe, come to the table with a solution instead of problems you create, that have no answer. "

" Bush will be remembered for the second president the take the terrorist threat as it real. Reagan was the first. When in 1985 he ordered Tripoli to be bombed. After the attack on the marines. Secondly other than left wing thoughts. That our country is going to he%% under Bush's 7 yrs in office. He was left with Clinton's ingoring the worl trade center attack in 1993. It was a "crime secene" Other than the first terrorist attack on US soil. His in action lead to the attack in 2001. Israel is considered the little satan the US the big satan. They hate the freedoms of the west. Its all it amounts too, pull out of the war on terror. Start growing your beards, look for mecca. Pray 5 times a day. Make women a second class or lower. Like it is in the middle east. "

If you still like the Bushes after this, well, then I was right about there being no hope for you. http://www.prisonplanet.com/audio/240707_bbc_prescott_coup.mp3 You might want to read the "War is a racket" book by Smedley Butler. " Raywa9 - not even close. Karl, I take some of Jones' stuff with a grain of salt and I think his politics are sometimes questionable, but his Terror Wars dvd was right on the money and his best work to date, and factually accurate. Farmer's Gal, I think you forgot to include Bush's latest presidential directive - http://www.bestcyrano.org/THOMASPAINE/?p=160 Honestly, I have little doubt that a new 9/11 false flag terror attack is in the works, and the stage is set for Bush to declare martial and cancel the elections. Regarding your comment about being close to living in Orwell's 1984 - we ARE living in Orwell's 1984 NOW, and have been for some time if you ask me. War is peace, slavery is freedom has been drummed into everybody for a long time now, although this trend has accelerated greatly since GB stole the presidency. Not sure there is much hope anymore - Conyers dropped the ball on impeachment. Anyone who isn't scared of these scumbags is not paying attention. "

I'll check out those sites; BTW, check out www.infowars.com -- there's a whole series of DVD's that detail these exact concerns--I recommend "9/11 and the Rise of the Police State" No hype, no exaggeration, just straight on-the-record facts that should scare any patriotic American to near-death! " Thanks, Karl L -- and right on. The most insidious item on your list, the one with the most lasting effects, will be the undermining of the Constitution. The masses are such fools -- we are already so close to living in Orwell's 1984 as it is -- Bush is subverting the last shreds of protection left to us -- and people actually APPLAUD this sickness. It would not surprise me at all if Bush invoked his right to declare a police state and set himself up as unanswerable dictator before he has to give up his presidency. Google "Bush Moves Toward Martial Law" if you think I am just being paranoid; Google "John Warner National Defense Authorization Act" for details of the act itself; try "NPR Asleep at the Wheel" for a good news story on the subject. Scary. "

" Everyone is talking about the upper level managers, including the comptroller, saying they agree with capping their salaries. Do you all realize that our manager, councilors & mayor also want to do the same to their clerical staff?!? This affects 6 people I believe & they are certainly not $90,000 a year salary earners! What about them? What is their incentive to stay & work for your city government, they will be looking for secretarial jobs elsewhere somewhere where they know they can get raises every year. You look only at at "the $90,000/year person"...consider those clerical people who make just enough to live on before you go and think this is a good idea!! "

Seriously damaging the Wall Between Church and State. 6. Making America less safe than before 9-11. 7.Getting away with War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity--because he probably will, and 8. Being unquestionably the most arrogant, proud, unintelligent and ineffectual president in US History. "

" Green is right - What is the incentive to keep working for the municipality? The issue here should never be about what professionals are paid, relative to the respective industries they come from, it should be about the asinine politics eminating from our elected 'leaders'. With few exceptions, the 'leaders' couldn't lead the blind from one side of the road to another, let alone run a multi-million dollar enterprise, plan for its future and do both while ensuring government benefits the constituents. Persons in positions of real responsibility and accountability(ie comptroller, manager, etc) ought to be paid richly, as they have to sweep up the mess & clean the toilet which is city & county governance. It's time to 'uninvite' the buffons who are our elected leaders from the table and start anew. "

Go to any grocery store here in Auburn and I guarantee that you will find people using there EBT cards to get steak, fish, cases of soda, and other "luxury" items, must be nice. " This comment goes out to the elderly drivers. When you cannot see too well, when you do not drive the speed limit, when your reactions are slowed down, it’s time to turn in your keys and retire. Why should you put other people in danger and yourself because of your reduced driving ability? Elderly people should have a driving test at least every 5 years starting at age 65. I am not against all older drivers but some. When you cannot drive the faster than 20 miles per hour, run through stop signs, and press the accelerator pedal instead of the brake, it’s time. Many of you might think that this takes away your freedom, but is it right to hurt, maim, either yourself or others because of your selfishness? In closing, to the elderly man who runs the stop sign every day at Ross St. Ext and N. Hunter Ave, please stop, people are watching. "
