Every Person Influences Children, EPIC, offers help for parents raising children. Discussion groups and the topics scheduled include:

€ Aug. 7 - Structure and Limits: Preventing and Managing Problem Behavior
€ Aug. 14 - Developing Respect and Caring in Young Children
Group discussions start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. All sessions are held at the CNY EPIC office, 17 E. Genesee St., fourth floor, Auburn.
Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required.

Soccer camp to kick off in Cato
The Cato-Meridian Community Recreation Center will offer soccer camp July 30 to Aug. 10, at the center on Route 360 East in Cato. The camp will run from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A free T-shirt will be given with enrollment.

Health series held for businesses
The Cayuga Community Health Network in cooperation with the CNY Diabetes Prevention Partnership will offer a six-part Lunch and Learn Series: “Making Positive Choices for Your Health” to downtown Auburn businesses beginning Aug. 2 for six consecutive Thursdays. The series ends Sept. 6.
The program is intended to raise the awareness among employees of downtown Auburn about the risks of Diabetes Type II. The following is a list of the sessions and the presenters:

€ Aug. 9 - “Taking Steps to Get Moving, Part I,” by Marie Sadusky, MHE

The Wounded Healers' Bereavement Support Group will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 17 Clymer St., Auburn.

Empire Haven Nudist Park in Moravia will host the Northeast Naturist Festival Aug. 7 through 12, at the park in Moravia. A series of workshops on health, personal growth, relationships, ecology and art will be held. Also featured will be camping, swimming, dances, campfires, drum circles, karaoke, sweat lodges, sports and games.

The Cayuga Medical Center's Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine program will hold a series aimed at the care and prevention of seasonal sports related injures. These talks are free and open to the public.
The first lecture, “Your Athlete and Fall Season Sports: Injury Prevention and Care,” will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 8, at Island Health Center in the third floor Ficorelli Conference room, 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca.
The lecture and panel discussion will include presentations on “Common Knee Injuries” by Bruce Greene, MD, FAAOS; “The Rehabilitation of Lower Extremity Injuries” by Brian Lee, PT CSCS, and “Low Back Pain in the Young Athlete” by Andrew Getzin, MD. An “Ask the Expert” discussion panel will follow the presentations.

Memory Walk planned for CNY
The Central New York Alzheimer's Association chapter will conduct five Memory Walks in its 14-county territory during the month of September. The Memory Walk is the association's signature event to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.
The September walk in Syracuse will welcome residents of Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins counties to the Inner Harbor of Syracuse. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk following at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15.

Carol Baldwin to be keynote speaker
Carol M. Baldwin, chairperson of the board of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc., will serve as keynote speaker of the annual women's health institute, “Our Mothers, Our Daughters, Our Health,” sponsored by Auburn Memorial Hospital from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Auburn Holiday Inn.
Registration forms may be obtained by calling
255-7444, and a $15 registration fee covers breakfast, lunch and all sessions. Advance registration is strongly recommended as the institute has sold out in recent years.
