DEC downplaying risk from VHS virus in fish

Monday, July 23, 2007 10:12 AM EDT

I have several concerns regarding DEC representative Dan Bishop's comments regarding the discovery of the VHS disease in Skaneateles Lake.
Bishop stated that the fish were still “OK” to eat. Are there any long-term studies regarding this disease and it's affect on humans?

How does he or anyone else know how it will affect my body or the bodies of my children? The DEC continues to downgrade the importance of not only the VHS virus, but the phosphorus problem in Owasco Lake, as well. They continue to ignore the questions and comments made by the actual fishermen using the lake.

One only knows what has to happen for the DEC to finally reveal the truth regarding the misinformation they are spreading.

No more fish for me - how about you?
