The city comptroller said she didn't know if she could work another 15 years without a raise above her $90,000. I think there would be a lot of people waiting in line to make that $90,000 if she chooses not to continue.
The requirement of celibacy for the priesthood, is not an invention of the current holy father, and has existed from the earliest times in church history. As in a true marriage between a man and woman who dedicate themselves to each other for life, A priest dedicates himself soley to God and no one else.

Instead of the health department worrying about who smoking in Costellos', they might better get around and check on these restaurants that don't wear hair nets or gloves when serving food.

Those of us who have no health insurance are being forced through the extortion of the property tax to fund it for the members of the county legislator who either have it through their real jobs or are wealthy enough

to pay for it themselves. This is an abuse in violation of the property tax.

Let's be able to have the Tomatofest again this year, so what if it cost money, we need to have something in our area for people young and old alike to go to. We have nothing hardly anymore around this area and you wonder why we get upset, as we do this to help the food pantries or else people will be going without even more.

why we get upset, as we do this to help the food pantries or else people

will be going without even more.

" The city comptroller has been doing her job for many years and probably works harder than most of the people that comment on here. $90,000 is a lot to make and she deserves every penny for putting up with such a ridiculous city. With inflation, 90,000 dollars will not be as much as it is now in 10 years. How would you feel if you worked hard for 15 years and all of a sudden there is no chance of a raise in your future? I bet you would not be happy either. "

" Just Venting, I couldn't wait to get away from Time Warner! I went to Dish Network, and I love it. And now I'm getting Verizon FiOS, and it's way faster then Road Runner. I did have DSL, and that was pretty good, this should be great. So, do what I did!! You won't regret it!! "

" It was a big mistake to go to Time Warner Cable. Channel 4 is always at a lower volume then the other channels, the stations freeze up sometimes, and they raised the prices. Now to add more, they took off the weather info that has been on for many many years. What was channel 4 is now 12 with no immediate weather info. The screen says go to channel 10 for weather, but who want to wait? "

" The Vatican does not require all Catholic priests to be celabite. You may not be aware of this but there are many different types of Catholics besides Roman Catholics. Think of the Catholic church as major league baseball. The American League and National Leauge are like Eastern and Western right catholics. Priest celibacy is like the designated hitter, the American Leauge has it but the National League does not. If you do your research, Eastern right catholic priests (Armenian catholic, Ukranian catholic, etc.) are under the authority of Rome, but are allowed to be married while Western right catholic priests (Roman catholic)are not. It would probably be a good idea if the Vatican let the western right catholic priests be allowed to be married like they allow the Eastern right catholic priests to be. I also think the deignated hitter should be abolished in baseball and pitchers be allowed to bat in bothe leagues. "

" I do agree with the writer that Auburn doesn't have the annual events as we use to. I remember as a child we had the "Italian festival". I use to go to all the carnivals that Auburn would put on. Also the Tomato Festival, was a fun event!! What happened to Auburn!! March can't come soon enough, my family can't wait to move out of here!!As for you Brew, You DON"T know what your talkng about!!! " Amazing--but predictable--it is, how ignorant of History the Christian Apologist is who attempts to defend celibacy/marriage for priests as not being an invention of the Pope. For nearly 400 years priests, deacons and bishops were married within the Church until being outlawed by Pops Siricius near the advent of the 4th century. Their post is just apologetic theological mumbo-jumbo that has no concession to the reality of closing Churches, an evaporating priesthood and the slow demise of Catholicism--but that's fine by me! " As a taxpayer, the $90,000.00 salary of the comptroller and the health insurance benfits fot the county legislators, make me sick. I could stop there, but the salary for the questionable appointment of Pabis as school superintendent is also outrageous. If you are as disgusted and tired of your tax dollars being wasted remember how important your vote, in the school board, county legislator, and local elections, is. The entire school board that took part in the secret appointment of Pabis and the legislators that voted to keep the health insurance benefits, need to be replaced! "

" Keep the salaries of your public employees below market value and all you will get are the poorest performers and they will cost you much more in the long run. The problem is not a cost of living raise but efficiency in spending. "

" No one has the obligation of putting on a tomato fest for your benefit. If you want one so bad then put on your own. The message is when a festival is floundering ask if you can volunteer and help them be successful, not wait until they fail then whine that they owe you entertainment. "
