What can our local communities do to attract out of towners to visit our local history?

I've read so much on what other areas do and it seems that Auburn does not promote as best as we can. We are so rich in historical resources and truly need to do something creative to attract the attention of others. Perhaps we can coordinate with other local communities to push the greater central New York region, Finger Lakes and our beloved city.

With all we have to offer, from hiking to camping, fishing, history, shopping, and so much more, it seems we can certainly do a better job in promoting this.

I'm not knocking anything particular or anyone. I just feel that, with all the financial problems people seem to be discussing, attracting vacationers may be able to lift some of this.
