Pitching boosts Kiwanis

Kevin DiCola, Mike O'Hearn, Brandon Titus, Alex Wilczek and Dan Carter combined for 13 strikeouts as the Auburn Kiwanis defeated Michaels & Smolak 12-5 in a Pony League baseball game on Thursday.
DiCola led the offense with two hits including a double, while Carter tripled and each Wilczek and Matt Jordan doubled. Jack Farrington, Pat Delven and Titus also added hits.

Matt Hesse and Jason Strazzare had hits for Michaels. Connor Siracusa and Josh Lupo split pitching duties.

BABE RUTH LEAGUE

Giussepes 10, Byrn's Trophy 9

Josh Eldreds sacrificed home Tim Daniels for the winning run in the eighth inning. Andrew Sanders then came in and pitched a perfect bottom of the eighth for the save.

Daniels led Giussepes with two hits. Steve Komanecky, Erica Queens and Sanders also added hits.

Nick Price, Zach LaDouce and Sanders pitched and combined for eight strikeouts.

For Byrn's, Adam Hurd (two hits), Tim Locastro, Andrew Chadderdon, Justin Lyndaker, Brian Church, Eric Guyle and Dan McCormack led the offense.

Chadderdon and Joey DeAngeles pitched, scattering five hits and striking out eight.

Cato 7, Moravia 0

Andy Wegman tossed a no-hitter and struck out 15 in an impressive performance.

His perfect game was spoiled by a walk in the third inning and in the same inning, Shay Stanistreet made a nice catch in right field to preserve the no-hit bid.
