Election year ripe for primaries

Some last-minute submissions forced Democratic primaries in three political races Thursday.

An emotional Cherry Love-Duncan rushed through the door of the Cayuga County Board of Elections building in just enough time to earn a 4:59 p.m. time stamp on her Democratic petition for Auburn City Council. The deadline was 5 p.m.

Love-Duncan, Gilda Brower and incumbent Thomas McNabb will face off in a Sept. 18 primary election for the two Democratic lines available on the November ballot.
